Gionee Marathon M5 news: Gionee launches smartphone with 6020 mAh battery and 3 GB of RAM

The Gionee Marathon M5 smartphone was first introduced in June; however, the device was only available in the Chinese market. Now, Gionee has released its first smartphone outside of China. The Marathon M5 has launched in the Indian market.
The Gionee Marathon M5 features a 5.5-inch AMOLED display with a 1280 x 720 pixel screen resolution and 267 ppi pixel density. It has a Corning Gorilla Glass 3 panel for protection. The device is housed in a metallic unibody frame. It is 8.55 mm thick and weighs 215 grams.
The smartphone is powered by a quad-core 1.5 GHz MediaTek MT6735 processor and 3 GB of RAM. There is also 32 GB of internal storage but can be expanded up to 128 GB via a microSD card. The model released for India comes with more storage compared to the China-model which featured 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB of internal storage.
The smartphone is equipped with a 13 MP rear camera with autofocus and LED flash. There is also a 5 MP front-facing camera for selfies.
The standout feature of the Marathon M5 is its long battery life. The device is equipped with two 3010 mAh batteries for a total battery capacity of 6020 mAh. The Marathon M5 comes with massive power that can last up to four days on a single charge. According to Gionee, it can last up to 557 hours on standby or with 28 hours of talk time. It can still go on standby for 62 hours even with only 5 percent battery charge.
The Marathon M5 also features reverse charging so it can be used to charge other devices. The smartphone comes with dual-SIM capability. There is also 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0 and GPS connectivity.
The smartphone comes preloaded with the Amigo 3.1 OS which is based on the Android 5.1 Lollipop OS. The device is offered three colors – White, Black and Gold.
The Gionee Marathon M5 is now available for purchase in India via Flipkart. It is priced at INR 17,999 or $270.
