'God of War 4' release date, latest news: Alternate gameplay will be featured in the new video game

(Facebook/ GodOfWar)"God of War" reportedly to feature Norse mythology

Latest developments regarding Sony Interactive Entertainment's "God of War" suggest that the forthcoming video game will feature alternate gameplay paths. This information that surfaced recently was fueled by a gameplay footage that was shown during the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) last June revealing a significant departure from familiar details formerly featured in the franchise.

Sources reveal that new attractions in the new video game will include Kratos fighting his enemies, together with his son, in a location that resembles a distinct Northern terrain much different from the ancient Greece setting seen in previous installments. In addition to this, players will also get to experience a third-person perspective while playing the game.

"God of War" director Cory Barlog confirmed this when he responded to a tweet from one of the game's avid fans. Barlog simply reiterated what was already revealed in the E3 event a few months ago. Looking at the thread that followed, it would seem that gaming enthusiasts are quite excited about the changes and additions to the new video game.

Other reports regarding the upcoming video game mention that it might inject Norse Mythology in its storylines and it is believed that Kratos' son is actually the future Thor. The boy is said to possess skills and distinct abilities very similar to the Nordic God of Thunder. In the game, one of the most vital missions a player will encounter is training the boy in order for him to develop his battle and survival skills. It is also believed that the next saga of "God of War" will revolve around the young boy's life.

Meanwhile, there is still no announcement as to when Sony Interactive Entertainment intends to release "God of War." It is highly possible that the game is still in development for PlayStation 4 since it did not participate in the PlayStation Experience (PSX) 2016. There is also no word regarding other elements that can be expected from the new video game.
