Google Nexus 7 specs, release date rumors: Google to unveil Nexus 7 this May with two variants?

(Google Official)

Google Nexus 7 (2016) is one of the most anticipated devices expected to come out this year. Rumors have it that the tablet will be launched in the upcoming Google I/O conference scheduled this month.

The event will run from May 18 to 22 and it is said that Google will unveil the new Nexus 7 on the first day and release it by summer. Previous Nexus models from Google were announced back in October and if the rumor is true, it seems that the company will be making an earlier reveal.

Nexus 7's release has not been confirmed, just like other reports that suggest that the device will be released in fall, specifically in October. Whether Google will unveil the Nexus 7 (2016) this month or in October remains to be seen.

If the device will arrive this year though, rumor has it that it will have a force touch technology found in Apple iPhone 6s. Different media outlets have also stated that the new Nexus 7 will carry remarkable specs and features, including a Snapdragon 820 chipset or NVIDIA Tegra X1 for superior performance.

The Nexus 7 (2016) could either be a smart phone or a device, but according to rumors, HTC, the reported partner for this project, will release 7-inch and 5-inch devices believed to be two variants of the Nexus 7. Both devices could carry either the two processors mentioned above and both are said to have 4 GB of RAM.

The devices' internal memory can also be expanded up to 2 TB with a microSD card slot. It was also rumored that the Nexus 7 (2016) will have a 3000 mAh battery, but it remains to be seen if the same battery capacity will be seen in the tablet version.

Speculations about the Google Nexus 7 2016 are just getting stronger with the I/O conference coming up, but it should be noted that Google has not made an official announcement about the device. Until then, all reports should be taken with a pinch of salt.
