'Grimm' season 6 news: Series to have a spin-off after the final season?

(Facebook/Grimm)The sixth and final season of "Grimm" will start on January 6 on NBC.

The upcoming 6th season of "Grimm" is bittersweet for the fans of the series as it will also serve as the show's shortened finale. However, it may not be the end of the world of the grimms and wesens as rumors about a spin-off are rife.

NBC made the announcement about the show coming to an end on Aug. 29 and, since then, fans have been looking for ways for it to extend. One of the online petitions is nearing its goal of having 15,000 supporters. The petition made under the name of Grimmster Family currently has 14,640 supporters, and it states that not only is the show coming to an end but season 6 only has 13 episodes, which is nine episodes short of its usual run.

The petition states that "Grimm" is a unique show with a huge range of stories yet to tell with a huge local and international fan base. It also says that the show is one of the few that is diverse both culturally and gender-wise. It ends with "We, the fans from all over the globe, are not ready to say goodbye. We are not ready to give up on the cast who have shared over five years of their lives with us . We are not ready... So, together we will fight and show you how much WE LOVE GRIMM!"

Creating and supporting online petitions have been one of the first resorts fans go to whenever a favorite show is about to end. NBC has yet to comment on the requests and the cast of the show as well.

There are already speculations that the show will have a spin-off with Netflix being rumored as one of the networks interested in producing such. The upcoming season is expected to reveal the power Nick (David Giuntoli) and Adalind's (Claire Coffee) son has. Many are also excited to see what kind of baby Monroe (Silas Weir Mitchell) and Rosalee (Bree Turner) have. Could the new-generation hybrids be the star of the spin-off?

Meanwhile, "Grimm" season 6 will premiere on Jan. 6, 2017 on NBC and, until announced otherwise, it will be the start of the show's end.
