'Halo 5' news: No Big Team Battle with launch but Warzone offered as an alternative multiplayer mode

"Halo 5: Guardians" disappointed a lot of fans when its developers decided to drop the split-screen feature from its final version. This week, fans will be met with further disappointment as 343 Industries will announce another feature which will be chunked out of the game, at least only for the launch.
The traditional Big Team Battle (BTB) in "Halo" is one of the more popular features of the franchise. Following the announcement that it will not be available on the "Halo 5: Guardians" launch, a fan asked studio head, Josh Holmes, for their reasons behind the decision.
Holmes did not directly answer the question but he promised that BTB will be available post-launch. He also promised something else that fans might enjoy during the launch. He said via Twitter, "Warzone is the evolution of BTB, on steroids. We'll also be adding a more traditional BTB mode post-launch."
Warzone was first announced during this year's Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3). It is a new multiplayer mode for the latest "Halo" game. It pits two teams consisting of 12 players each against each other in one of the biggest maps to ever appear on the Xbox-exclusive franchise.
During the E3 announcement of Warzone, fans saw two teams of 12 — one headed by Spartan Locke and the other by Master Chief — going against each other and also battling "Halo 4's" Prometheans. Their initial weapon is an assault rifle, which will be coupled by other weapons as the multiplayer mode progresses.
The "Halo" franchise started in 2001 and has always been a military sci-fi first-person shooter. It oversees a battle between humans and aliens. For the latest iteration, the game's main protagonist, Master Chief, goes missing. Players then take on Spartan Locke to hunt him down.
"Halo 5: Guardians" is the first T-rated game in the series, unlike previous games which have been rated Mature by the ESRB. It will be available for the Xbox One this Oct. 27.
