'Homeland' season 6 release date, spoilers: Is Allison really dead?

Allison Carr (Miranda Otto) may still be alive and shadowing Saul Berenson's (Mandy Patinkin) every move, waiting for the right time to get revenge in "Homeland" season 6.
During the last installment's finale, Saul finally drew the line and made Allison pay for her sins of being a double agent. Unbeknownst to Saul and the people of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), she was working for Ivan Krupin (Mark Ivanir) in securing intel for Russia. She sold her country out and used her romantic involvement to Saul to escape detection. In the end, her true identity was revealed. Saul contacted Ivan and made a deal with him. The Russian must act as if he was sending Allison to his country for protection.
Allison hurriedly prepared for the journey, knowing that it was only a matter of time until the US authorities discover her act of treason. She was dismayed to find that she would have to spend hours inside a car's trunk before it could cross the border. In an abandoned road, the vehicle ran over a number of spikes and eventually came to a stop. A group of snipers then rained bullets at the car. Afterwards, Saul was revealed to be the one who hired them. When he popped the trunk, he saw Allison dead.
However, Movie News Guide posits that Allison may still be alive. Although it was revealed that she died due to multiple gunshots wounds, it is certainly possible that she may have survived at the end. Saul left her for dead on that road. Viewers did not see her funeral. The Russians may have gotten to her and brought her to a safe location to recuperate.
Otto was also part of the panel during the recently concluded The Contenders event by Deadline. This may be a clue that her character will return in the series, turn up in the United States and hunt her executioner.
"Homeland" season 6 is expected to return this fall on Showtime.
