The two-hour back-to-back episodes of "How to Get Away with Murder" season 3 finally revealed the real person responsible for Wes' (Alfred Enoch) death, while Connor (Jack Falahee) continued to wallow in his guilt, thinking that he may have killed his friend while administering CPR. Also, viewers witnessed how the tension increased among the Keating Four as new details regarding the night of Wes' death started to surface.

The two episodes titled "He Made a terrible Mistake" and "Wes," respectively, revealed through a flashback that Connor was inside the house when the fire happened. As it turns out, he was the first to discover Wes lifeless in the basement and immediately tried to revive him, although he believes he may have cracked one of his ribs in the process. It was revealed that as Connor ran out of the house when the fire started, there was a man inside a parked car in front of the house. He was talking to someone over the phone saying, "It got kinda messy."

The man inside the car was responsible for injecting a toxic substance into Wes earlier that night, causing him to weaken. Eventually, the same man chokes and suffocates him to death.

In an interview with Variety, show creator Pete Nowalk explained that early into the show's third season, he was already toying the idea of making Laurel's (Karla Souza) father responsible for whatever happened to Wes. The man, known as Dominic, is actually a family friend of Laurel's family, as later revealed in the show. Interestingly, Dominic was ordered to kill Wes, and the instruction came from none other than Laurel's own father, played by Esai Morales.

"Very early on in the series, whenever we mention Laurel's father, I knew I eventually wanted to investigate her family and who her father was and how bad of a man he is, so it was definitely a possibility in my head that he was behind it, but there were a lot of possibilities in my head. I always have options and it was just really about what felt the most exciting to explore for next year — I like surprising, but I like knowing where it's going more. I really like what this says about Laurel," Nowalk said.

In the same interview, Nowalk did not elaborate on the reason why Laurel's father would want Wes dead. If anything, the upcoming season would center on how Laurel will piece things together in order to arrive at the truth. He, however, teased that Wes' death definitely involved D.A. Denver and Dominic.

Meanwhile, the "How to Get Away with Murder" season 3 two-hour finale registered 5 million viewers and a 1.5 rating according to TV Line.

ABC has yet to announce the official release date for "How to Get Away with Murder" season 4.
