Indiana Pacers free agency, trade rumors 2016: team to pursue Ray Allen?

The Indiana Pacers had a busy off-season as they improved their roster with key veteran pieces. But the moves may not stop there since they can still land one more in Ray Allen.

SportsBlog opined in its report that Indiana can be a destination for Allen when he finally comes back to the National Basketball Association (NBA). The 41-year-old is expected to be an offensive boost for the Pacers and he is seen to thrive under their new head coach Nate McMillan.

Indiana is already loaded on offense and adding Allen would just make things better for the franchise. His shooting will always be his best contribution and it is likely that as a player off the bench, he might be one of the leading scorers for the second unit.

However, it is unknown if the Pacers are even in the running for Allen. For now, the Boston Celtics, Milwaukee Bucks and the New York Knicks are viewed as top candidates to acquire his services.

Besides this, the Pacers may not even be capable of offering Allen an enticing deal after all the additions they made so far this off-season. The notable newcomers for Indiana are veteran point guards Aaron Brooks and Jeff Teague, together with big men Thaddeus Young, Al Jefferson and Kevin Seraphin. These guys are going to play alongside the likes of franchise star Paul George, Monta Ellis and the young Myles Turner.

The Pacers are among those who really exerted effort to get better this off-season.

Last season, the Pacers finished seventh in the Eastern Conference with a 45-37 record. Unfortunately, the door was shut early for them in the postseason. During the first round of the playoffs, they took on the Toronto Raptors and gave them a fight but they ended up getting eliminated in seven games.
