'Injustice 2' characters news: NetherRealm to release new character next week

(injustice.com)A new character for "Injustice 2" is expected to be unveiled next month.

NetherRealm Studios will announce the new addition to the character roster of "Injustice 2" next Tuesday instead of the reported schedule this week.

Earlier reports claimed that the game studio is planning to reveal the game's new character on Feb. 7. But the game's official website changed the release date to Feb. 13.

The game developer talked about the so-called delay on the official Twitter account of "Injustice 2" without saying the main reason. Yet, they apologized for the confusion.

At the moment, 17 old and new characters had been announced by the game studio. The list includes returning characters like Aquaman, Bane, Batman, The Flash, Harley Quinn, Robin, the Green Lantern, Wonder Woman, and Superman. On the other hand, new game characters include the Black Canary, Atrocitus, Blue Beetle, Deadshot, Brainiac, Gorilla Grodd, Supergirl, and Poison Ivy.

However, sources confirm that at least 20 character slots are expected to be revealed in the coming days.

"Injustice 2" is the highly anticipated sequel to the popular "Injustice: Gods Among Us" that was released in 2013.

According to the game's description, the upcoming fighting video game will continue the plot of the original "Injustice" game. This time, Batman and his friends will try to fix the society that was destroyed in the past game. But the Caped Crusader and his allies will have to face those who still believe that Superman should rule the world, while a new threat is also expected to emerge.

The game developer also revealed that players must expect to see an expanded showdown from the previous game. "With every match, players earn gear to equip, customize and level-up their favorite DC Super Heroes and Super-Villains that meaningfully impacts not only how they look, but also how they fight," NetherRealms stated on the website.

"Injustice 2" is slated to be released on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, iOS, and Android on May 16.
