iPad Mini 4 vs. Nexus 9: iPad Mini 4's design makes it superior to the Nexus 9

Apple just released a new iPad Mini, the iPad Mini 4 and it is no surprise that it has been immediately compared to other devices in the market, including the Nexus 9 from Google.

Design

The iPad Mini 4's design has several familiar elements such as a metal body created from aluminum and rounded edges. It also has a fingerprint scanner integrated into its home button and comes in three colors, space gray, gold and silver. As for its competitor, the Nexus 9, it was manufactured by HTC for Google and comes in sand, black and white. However, it lacks a fingerprint scanner. As for its build, it uses plastic for its front and back panels, but its rim is made of metal, which actually gives users a better grip on their tablet.

Display

The iPad Mini 4 is the smaller device and comes with a 7.9-inch IPS LCD screen with a resolution of 1536 x 2048 pixels and a density of 324 pixels per inch. As for the Nexus 9, it has an IPS LCD screen measuring 8.9 inches with a resolution of 1536 x 2048 pixels and a density of 281 pixels per inch.

Specs

When it comes to hardware, the Mini 4 is better as it was recently released. It has an Apple A8 chipset coupled with a dual core CPU clocked at 1.5 GHz. Its competitor, has an Nvidia Tegra K1 chipset, along with a CPU with two cores clocked at 2.3 GHz and a Kepler DX1 GPU.

Memory

There is no memory slot on both of these devices, therefore, external storage cannot be added, but when it comes to RAM, the Nexus 9 is ahead with 2 GB, as the Mini 4 is thought to have only 1 GB onboard.

Camera

As for the cameras, both have an 8-megapixel rear shooter.

Price

The iPad Mini 4 with 16 GB of storage costs $399; the Nexus 9 has a similar price tag.
