With the iPad Pro shipping to customers many have started comparing it to the MacBook Air from Apple. To see how the fully fledged 13 inch laptop compares to the new tablet/laptop hybrid from Apple, check below.

Design

Coming to design and ease of use, the MacBook Air has an edge as it is made from aluminum and has a full sized physical keyboard and glass trackpad. This laptop however, only comes in one color silver and is heavier than its competitor weighing 2.96 pounds. As for the iPad Pro it is a tablet without a keyboard and a kickstand and so cannot be used comfortably for any typing jobs unless the Smart Keyboard which costs $169 is purchased. Coming to its build it is made from aluminum and its base model weighs a mere 1.57 pounds. A major drawback with this device is that the keyboard is made from fabric and will not function as well as that of a laptop. However, there is a touchscreen on the iPad Pro and the Apple Pencil stylus can be used on it.

Display

When it comes to display size, the iPad Pro is smaller and comes with a 12.9-inch version with a resolution of 2732x2048 pixels and a density of 264 pixels per inch. As for the MacBook Air it has a 13.3 inch display that has a resolution of 1440x900 pixels and density of 127 pixels per inch.

Specs

Coming to hardware, the iPad Pro has an A9X chip along with an M9 motion coprocessor and ArsTechnica states that it is better than the MacBook Air when it comes to single core testing but lags in multi core. As for the MacBook Air it comes with a Core i5 processor from Intel.

Memory

There is no memory slot on the iPad Pro while the 13 inch MacBook Air has an SDXC card slot. Coming to onboard storage, there is either 32 GB or 128 GB on the iPad Pro while its competitor comes with either 128 GB or 256 GB. In terms of RAM, the iPad Pro has 4 GB while the MacBook Air also has the same amount.

Price

The cheapest MacBook Air costs $1000, while the iPad Pro without any accessories costs $799.
