Even though Apple is over 10 months away from launching the iPhone 7 and the iPhone 7 Plus, a lot of rumors about the upcoming lineup have been arriving on the internet. Included in the latest rumor is that next year's iPhone lineup will start with a 4 inch model and go up to 5.5 inches, as for the rest of the speculation it is rounded up below.

A10 CPU and 3 GB RAM

Apple Insider, quoting a research note from Ming-Chi Kuo an analyst at KGI Securities, states that the upcoming iPhone 7 will have a 4 inch model, while the bigger 4.7 inch model will have an A10 chipset. As for the shift from 2 GB RAM to 3 GB it would only happen on the iPhone 7 Plus and Apple will push this change through so that the bigger device will perform better than its smaller siblings.

Waterproofing

There was a rumor after the iPhone 6s and the 6s Plus launched that the devices were "secretly waterproof". Even though this was debunked it is clear that waterproofing has improved, and that next year Apple could be working towards making the iPhone lineup water and dust proof and they could even have an IP certification.

4K Screen and home button removal

As for the rumor about the 4K screen on the iPhone 7 it is based on the rumor that Apple is going to use glass layered on glass for its touch panel. This will cause the device to have a flat screen and a display that extends from one edge to the other. Also with 3D Touch being included this year, next time Apple could decide to remove the home button altogether and build the fingerprint sensor into the screen or move it towards the side or back.

Battery improvements

Forbes states that Gene Munster, an analyst from Barron's, had indicated that the iPhone 7 lineup could see battery life improve substantially, as this is something that Apple seems keen on doing.
