'iZombie' season 3 release news and spoilers: Peyton, Blaine, and Ravi's love triangle; Liv and Major to remain platonic

Love is hard enough in normal circumstances. Just imagine how much more challenging it is if zombies are added to the mix. That's not going to stop "iZombie," though, from addressing the love triangle between Peyton, Ravi, and Blaine in the show's third season.

Season 2 of the popular The CW series saw Blaine (David Anders) and Ravi (Rahul Kohli) team up to try and rescue Peyton (Aly Michalka). However, it was Blaine who single-handedly took down Mr. Boss' henchmen and saved Liv's (Rose McIver) best friend in the finale. The episode ended wiith Peyton hugging Blaine, much to Ravi's dismay.

Now it seems the show will be dealing with the fallout of that event, which will cause confusion as Peyton tries to decide who she wants to end up with.

"I think her heart definitely says Ravi because there's that friendship, there's that solid rapport that they have," Michalka told Showbiz Junkies. "But I think with Blaine, she just happens to be physically attracted to him."

The actress also said that Blaine, being the complete opposite of her goody two-shoes character, added to the attraction. Michalka teased that season 3 will open with that love triangle and with Ravi revealing to Blaine his feelings for Peyton, complicating things further.

As for Peyton's roommate, McIver previously teased that the coroner's assistant and her ex-fiance, Major (Robert Buckley), would keep things platonic in the show's third season.

However, Liv has other problems to deal with, like a new, underground zombie bar. Showrunner Rob Thomas explained to EW that with a large number of zombies populating Seattle, "it's high time someone capitalized on the undead's desire to socialize with their own kind." The solution is The Scratching Post.

"It's a speakeasy where one needs to be able to eat a ghost pepper without flinching to be allowed in, but once inside, brains and hot sauces from around the world are available for the discriminating zombie," Thomas explained.

No premiere date has been set yet, but "iZombie" season 3 is expected to return midseason to The CW.
