'Jane the Virgin' season 3 spoilers: Jane and Petra go head-to-head in election for 'room mom'

"Jane the Virgin" will hit the small screen again this March after its short break. Jane (Gina Rodriguez) and Petra (Yael Grobglas) are going to mark the show's comeback with a competitive race to become the next room mom at their kid's school.
In the latest promotional trailer uploaded by The CW for "Jane the Virgin" season 3 episode 14, the two ladies are seen battling it out in what seems like a spoof of a political debate. Vying for the position of the next room mom, they each reveal their plans about their kids' school and throw criticisms at one another.
The story is currently taking place three years after Michael's (Brett Dier) death. The characters have moved on. Jane's son, Mateo, is now a little older and going to a new school, where Petra's kids are also attending.
The last episode was big for Jane as she was finally able to change the other moms' first impression of her. When the other moms at Mateo's school thought that she was to blame for his misbehavior, Jane proved that she wasn't as bad as they thought she was.
Even though this made her one of the frontrunners in the race to become the next room mom, she will face a challenge in the form of Petra. Petra, whose twins go to the same school as Mateo, has always had a clean record as her kids are always well-behaved. Even though Petra has a bigger chance at winning the race, Jane is definitely not going down without a fight.
In other news, the show's third season has been experiencing a drop in ratings. According to iTech Post, the last episode before their current break had the lowest viewership for the show to date.
"Jane the Virgin" will return on Monday, March 20 at 9 p.m. EST on The CW.
