Earlier this year, Spanish director Juan Antonio Bayona has been revealed to take over the director duties from director Colin Trevorrow for the sequel "Jurassic World 2." In a recent interview, Bayona revealed that the upcoming film is part of a trilogy and he also gave updates on production preparations.

LRM caught up with Bayona at the Toronto International Film Festival where he said, "It's very interesting. The whole 'Jurassic World' is a trilogy that Colin Trevorrow has envisioned." He also hinted that Trevorrow is still very much a part of the project saying, "We're writing the second chapter, and it's very interesting where he's leading the story. I grew up watching Steven Spielberg movies and I love those movies and the legacy, so it's a question of being truthful to the legacy and at the same time, bringing new stuff that people will appreciate. We are still six months ahead of shooting, and so far, so good. It's very exciting right now."

It looks like the dinosaurs will be seen in the main streets in the upcoming movie as previously hinted by Trevorrow. In an interview with Wired, the director did say that whether or not he will be involved in the sequels, he has already set the table for future installments. With the franchise's future already laid out, he revealed the story will not just be confined to dinosaurs chasing preys on an island.

He may have also hinted that future films might see dinosaurs used as weapons, which is one of the highly speculated plots. The idea of dinosaur egg technology reaching outside of the island has been cleverly planted in the first installment when one of the scientists had eggs in his possessions while escaping the island.

Filming is scheduled to start filming in February and, if schedule goes as planned, more details about "Jurassic World 2" would be shared soon. The movie is scheduled to hit theaters in 2018.
