'Justice League' movie news: Matt Damon shuts down rumors about playing Green Arrow in the movie

(Facebook/Bourne)Matt Damon will only play a superhero if Ben Affleck directs him.

Although there is no denying that Stephen Amell has made a stamp on the Green Arrow character — thanks to his successful "Arrow" TV series — there are now rumors going around that Matt Damon may don the suit of the arrow-wielding superhero in the movies and will be part of the upcoming "Justice League."

Rumor has it that Damon, who is known not only for his "Bourne" movies but also for his personal friendship with Ben Affleck, is lending his acting chops to the "Justice League" movie, wherein Affleck is reprising his "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" role as the Caped Crusader, to portray Green Arrow. However, based on Damon's statement at the premiere of his upcoming "Jason Bourne" movie, which is slated for a commercial release next week, he would only wear superhero tights if and only if Affleck asks him to do so, and Affleck himself will direct the movie.

"If he (Ben) was directing me, I'd jump on it in a New York minute. I'd love to work with Ben. The problem with Ben is every time he directs a movie, he gives himself the best role in it, so until he's willing to give up the best role to one of his friends, we're not going to get on with it," said Damon at the event as reported by The Irish Examiner.

Based on Damon's statements, it is obvious that he is not part of the "Justice League" movie as, first, the upcoming blockbuster is not helmed by Affleck but by Zack Snyder. Although Damon's statement was a joke, it seems that he is not willing to don a superhero costume that is less popular than Affleck's Batman.

"I'd consider anything with the right director, but I can't imagine there are any superheroes left, I think they're all taken at this moment," Damon further said at the same event, further suggesting that he is not donning a superhero costume anytime soon.

With this, it must be clear by now that Damon is not suiting up as the Green Arrow for "Justice League" at all. However, there are also those hoping that he can be part of Affleck's upcoming solo "Batman" movie that will not only star Affleck but will also be under his directorial expertise.

Will Damon take the role of Robin despite his age in the event Affleck offers it to him? Only time will tell.

Meanwhile, "Justice League" is slated for a Nov. 17, 2017 release and features Affleck, Henry Cavill, Gal Gadot, Jason Momoa, Ezra Miller, and Ray Fisher as Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, The Flash, and Cyborg, respectively.
