One of Olivia Benson's (Mariska Hargitay) team members will be in danger in the upcoming season finale of "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit."

In "Heartfelt Passages," the synopsis reveals that the Special Victims Unit (SVU) will continue its investigation on corrupt corrections officer Gary Munson (Brad Garrett). Ever since the case started, the squad members, especially Assistant District Attorney Rafael Barba (Raul Esparza), have been receiving death threats. Munson's union brothers have been targeting the agents who want to expose his wrongdoings. The corrections officer was brought in for his violent treatment of the prisoners at Rikers, the city's main jail complex.

The promo for the upcoming episode suggests that the court will find little evidence against Munson and he will soon be allowed to go home to his family. Benson is shown warning his wife that they must get out of the house before Munson comes back. Her advice, however, will come too late. Later on, the woman calls the lieutenant, stating that her husband is home and that she has not been able to flee with her children. Unbeknownst to Benson, someone from her team is watching the Munson family from the inside, waiting for the corrections officer to make a wrong move.

In the clip, the authorities are convening outside the Munsons' home. The suspect has his wife at gunpoint and is preparing to use her to get out of there alive. Sgt. Mike Dodds (Andy Karl) comes into the picture, already inside the house, telling Munson to drop the gun and let go of his wife. Munson snaps and pulls the trigger. The scene cuts to Benson screaming "officer down." Mike's father, Deputy Chief William Dodds (Peter Gallagher), is there, telling his son to fight. At the latter part of the teaser, Benson tells the chief she is sorry, suggesting that Mike has died.

The "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" season 17 finale will air on Wednesday, May 25 at 9 p.m. EST on NBC.
