LG G Flex 2 vs. Galaxy Note 5: Samsung device outdoes LG's curved phone

The launch of the Note 5 has undoubtedly created a storm in the smartphone arena. However, there are still several phablets, including the G Flex 2, which are ready to take on the Samsung device. Here is how the smartphone from LG compares to the Note 5.

Design

The G Flex 2 owes its name to the distinct curve that runs from top to bottom. To make this possible, however, the device has been crafted from plastic and it absolutely has no metal in its body. Its unique design extends to it back panel, which has a coating that can heal minor scratches within 15 seconds at room temperature. It comes in only two colors, silver and red. As for the Note 5, it has better features as it comes with a fingerprint scanner and an S Pen Stylus, features which are not present on its competitor. Its build consists of a metal frame and it has Gorilla Glass 4 on its front and back panel. It comes in black, gold, white and silver.

Display

The display on the Note 5 is slightly bigger and much sharper. It consists of a 5.7-inch super AMOLED screen with a resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels and a density of 518 pixels per inch. As for the G Flex 2, it has a curved screen P-OLED screen measuring 5.5 inches with a resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels and a density of 403 pixels per inch.

Specs

When it comes hardware, the G Flex 2 is surprisingly more than able to keep up with the Note 5. It has a the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 chipset and an octa-core CPU comprised of four Cortex-A53 cores clocked at 1.5 GHz and four Cortex-A57 cores clocked at 2 GHz and an Adreno 430 GPU. In the Note 5 is Samsung's own Exynos 7420 chipset, an octa-core CPU with four Cortex-A53 cores clocked at 1.5 GHz and four Cortex-A57 cores clocked at 2.1 GHz and a Mali-T760MP8 GPU.

Memory

The Note 5 is the first device in the Note lineup to not come with a memory slot. The G Flex 2, on the other hand, has a slot which allows for the addition of up to 128 GB of external storage. As for RAM, the 16 GB version of the G Flex 2 has 2 GB and its 32 GB version has 3 GB while the Note 5 has 4 GB.

Price

The LG G Flex 2 has a price tag of $99 with a two-year contract while the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 costs $249.99 with a similar contract.
