LG has been recently introducting variants of its flagship, the G4 model, and the latest one to arrive is the mid-range LG G4 Beat. Here is how the G4 Beat compares to the curved G Flex 2 phablet.

Design

Even though both devices are manufactured by LG, their design philosophies are completely different. The G Flex 2 comes with a curved body which has a healing coating on its back panel that causes minor scratches to disappear within 15 seconds. However, it is made entirely of plastic, much like its competitor, and comes in two colors, silver and red.

As for the G4 Beat, its plastic build continues to its back panel where patterned polycarbonate in three colors gray, gold and ceramic white are present. Otherwise, the major difference between the devices lie in their size, as the G4 Beat is a smartphone while the G Flex 2 is a phablet.

Display

The display on the G4 Beat consists of an IPS LCD screen measuring 5.2 inches with a resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels and a density of 423 pixels per inch. On the G Flex 2 is a curved P-OLED screen measuring 5.5 inches with a resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels and a density of 403 pixels per inch.

Specs

The hardware on the G Flex 2 gives it a distinct advantage over the G4 Beat. The curved phablet comes with the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 chipset, an octa-core CPU with four Cortex-A53 cores clocked at 1.5 GHz and four Cortex-A57 cores clocked at 2 GHz and an Adreno 430 GPU. As for the G4 Beat, it has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 chipset, an octa-core CPU with four Cortex-A53 cores clocked at 1.5 GHz and four Cortex-A53 cores clocked at 1 GHz and an Adreno 405 GPU.

Memory

Many expect that the G4 Beat would come with a memory slot but as of now, there is no word that the smartphone has one. The G Flex 2, on the other hand, is equipped with a memory slot which allows for the addition of up to 128 GB of external storage.

As for RAM, the G Flex 2 with 16 GB onboard memory comes with 2 GB of RAM, its 32 GB version has 3 GB of RAM while the G4 Beat has 1.5 GB of RAM.

Price

The LG G4 Beat does not have a price point yet but it will definitely be cheaper than the LG G Flex 2 which has a price tag of $299 with a two-year contract.
