LG G3 v.s Moto X Play: Moto device outshines the LG G3

The LG G3 might be a flagship device from last year, but it is still a great option for those who want an impressive but budget device. And with the release of the Moto X Style, there is no doubt that it will face some tough competition. Here is how these two phablet sized devices compare.

Design

The LG G3 has a terrific looking body which comes with a metallic shine but it actually has a plastic frame, including the front and back panels. It comes in black, white, gold, violet, red and blue. As for the Moto X Play, it has a plastic body with a metal frame around its edge but its back panel is highly customizable. Users can simply go to the Moto Maker website and select from several materials such as wood, leather and silicone for the back panel.

Display

In this category, the LG G3 has an advantage as it has a sharper LCD screen measuring 5.5 inches with a resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels and a density of 538 pixels per inch. On the Moto X Play, is a similar-sized screen but it only has a resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels and a density of 403 pixels per inch.

Specs

The LG G3, which was released last year, is outgunned by the Moto X Play as the latter comes with better hardware in the form of a Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 chipset, an octa-core CPU comprised of four Cortex-A53 cores clocked at 1.7 GHz and four Cortex-A53 cores clocked at 1.0 GHz and an Adreno 405 GPU. As for the LG G3, its hardware consists of a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 chipset, coupled along with a Krait 400 CPU with four cores clocked at 2.5 GHz and an Adreno 330 GPU.

Memory

Both devices have a memory slot and which allows for the addition of up to 128 GB of external storage. As for RAM, the LG G3 with 16 GB internal storage comes with 2 GB and its 32 GB version has 3 GB while the Moto X Play has 2 GB.

Price

The Moto X Play is expected to cost around $300 in its unlocked form while the LG G3 costs $99 with a two-year contract.
