While the LG G5 has been getting of attention from consumers and industry analysts alike due to its modular design, it has to take on the market leading iPhone lineup including last year's iPhone 6s Plus to succeed. Here are how these two devices far in a face to face comparison.

Design

In terms of size, the iPhone 6s Plus is slightly bigger and comes with a full metal body that is made from 7000 series aluminum and so does not bend easily. However, it has antenna lines at its back and its fingerprint scanner is positioned in its home button.

As for the LG G5, it too has a metal body but its back is smooth as it does not have any antenna lines. The fingerprint scanner on the G5 is located on the back panel and importantly, the phone has a modular design which allows for add-ons to be snapped onto the base. Currently, two such add on modules are available for the G5 and one comes with an extra battery and camera controls, and another has a Hi-Fi audio player. As for colors, the device from LG comes in silver, gold, pink and titan, while the iPhone 6s Plus comes in gray, gold, rose gold and silver.

Display

There is a IPS LCD display on the iPhone 6s Plus and it measures 5.5 inches and has a resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels and a density of 401 pixels per inch. As for the LG G5, it has an IPS LCD display measuring 5.3 inches with a better resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels and a density of 554 pixels per inch.

Hardware

Onboard the LG G5 is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 chipset, coupled with a quad-core CPU and an Adreno 530 GPU. On the iPhone 6s Plus is an Apple A9 chipset, a dual-core CPU and a PowerVR GT7600 GPU.

Memory

Only the LG G5 has a memory slot and it can be used to add up to 200 GB of external storage. As for the iPhone 6s Plus, it has 2 GB RAM while the LG G5 has either 3 GB or 4 GB onboard.

Camera

Here, the 16-megapixel camera on the LG G5 at the rear is coupled with an 8-megapixel secondary camera. As for the iPhone 6s Plus, it has a 12-megapixel camera on the rear.

Price

The iPhone 6s Plus comes with a two-year contract is priced at $299 while the LG G5 could have a similar or lower price tag with a two-year contract.
