'Longmire' season 5 update: Details to come out during Longmire Days convention?

(Facebook/LongmireTV)Netflix renewed "Longmire" for season 5

Netflix is yet to announce the official release date of "Longmire" season 5, but reports are saying that avid viewers may finally hear some details in the upcoming Longmire Days event to be held in Buffalo, Johnson County, Wyoming on July 8-10.

Craig Johnson, the author of the book series where the show was based on, and some cast members may be joining the convention. It is also expected that lead actor Robert Taylor, the showrunners and series writers will be there to tease some details for the upcoming season.

The rumor mill has interesting predictions, though. One involves the possible romantic relationship between Walt Longmire and Vic (Katee Sackhoff). In the third season, there was an evident attraction between the two characters. However, it didn't progress in the fourth season, as Vic tried to make her marriage work. Meanwhile, Walt was seen getting along well with another love interest, Dr. Donna Monaghan (Ally Walker).

At the season's finale, the two new lovebirds were having an intimate moment when an intruder came into the house. This event may stop the brewing romance, though. Rumor has it that Monaghan is actually Walker Browning (Callum Keith Rennie)'s accomplice. Additionally, Browning may just be the intruder himself.

In other news, it is reported that the next season will have more airtime per episode. Instead of just 40 minutes, each episode will run for one long hour. Lou Diamond Phillips, who plays Henry Standing Bear, confirmed this with Variety.

"We were previously constrained to 42 minutes and as a result, a lot of my work hit the floor. With an additional 20 minutes, we can let those moments breathe and round out those characters and it's a much more cinematic experience episode to episode," the 53-year-old actor revealed.

Season 5 is sure to hit the small screen. But the question of "when" still remains unanswered. Speculations must be taken with doubt, though.
