Los Angeles Lakers trade rumors 2016: Blake Griffin's acquisition remains feasible?

The issues and troubles that surrounded Blake Griffin last season led to some people thinking his relationship with the Los Angeles Clippers is tarnished. Due to this, he was connected to different teams and among those was the Los Angeles Lakers, who may still be interested in him.

(Reuters/Thomas B. Shea/USA TODAY Sports)A number of teams are eyeing Los Angeles Clippers forward Blake Griffin.

Griffin, despite the setbacks in the previous season, is still one of the best players in the National Basketball Association (NBA) today, especially at the power forward position. He is a game changer and has proven that in his entire career with the Clippers.

If Griffin joins the Lakers, he will speed up the rebuilding process and give the franchise a star player who can lead it back to the playoffs.

What the Lakers may give up for Griffin is young talent/s, since that is what the team is full of as of the moment. If ever a negotiation takes place, the names of Jordan Clarkson, D'Angelo Russell, Julius Randle and Brandon Ingram are expected to be in the conversation. They may also include veterans in their offer like Jose Calderon, Lou Williams or Nick Young.

However, besides the fact that Clippers head coach Doc Rivers wants to keep Griffin, his present contract may also prevent a swap from happening.

Next year, Griffin can opt out and be available on the market. It is risky since there is a chance he would only don the purple and gold for a season then leave. If that happens, the Lakers wasted budding players who could have been the next big thing for them.

Also, it was reported a few weeks ago that Griffin intends to sign a new pact (extension) with the Clippers soon. Chasing him now is a waste of time for the Lakers who must focus on their rebuilding and on the pieces they have.
