MacBook Air 2017 release date news: Speculated to arrive first half of next year

(Apple)Reports suggest that if MacBook Air is not getting on the chopping block, newest iterations can be expected sometime in Q2 2017.

The newest iteration of MacBook Air is suspected to be unveiled sometime in the first half of 2017.

Some Apple fans have been hoping to see a newer line of MacBook Air products this year. However, 2016 is about to end and there is still no word from Cupertino whether or not the MacBook Air products will get a product refresh.

According to the Apple-focused news site, Macworld, if Apple is not placing the MacBook Air line on the chopping block, a release of newer products can be expected sometime between March and May of 2017. It can be recalled that Apple usually announces MacBook Air-related updates within these months in the past year, just like last April.

However, Macworld also noted that the update Apple released for the MacBook Air is a little bit on the "underwhelming" side. Apple only released a new color option of Rose Gold while 13-inch MacBook Airs got a new standard on-board memory of 8 GB.

After that event, MacBook Air fans were hoping for more. Their hopes were held high when Apple announced an October event for MacBook. However, as it turned out, the event was only focused on MacBook Pro major updates while few to none were given to MacBook Air.

Not to mention, the newest MacBook Pro was made ultimately thinner and lighter almost close to MacBook Air's characteristics, which sparked more speculations that Apple fans are seeing the last days of MacBook Air.

With these developments, reports suggest that there is always a possibility that the MacBook Air is approaching its discontinuation.

It is also hard not to notice that hybrid tablet-laptops are slowly but surely getting on top of the technology trend now. That, in effect, makes a 2015 statement of Apple chief executive officer, Tim Cook, hard to forget.

In an interview with The Telegraph, Cook said: "I think if you're looking at a PC, why would you buy a PC anymore? No really, why would you buy one?"

He adds: "The iPad Pro is a replacement for a notebook or a desktop for many, many people. They will start using it and conclude they no longer need to use anything else, other than their phones."
