Season two of "Madam Secretary" returns this Sunday with its first episode, "The Show Must Go On."

When the show premieres, Elizabeth McCord (Téa Leoni) will be thrust into a position she never deemed was possible. After the Air Force One disappears and the President is declared missing, Elizabeth becomes the acting President. The official season two trailer revealed footage of Elizabeth being sworn in by the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, which features a cameo appearance by actor and executive producer, Morgan Freeman. Freeman also directed the season two premiere episode.

As acting President, Elizabeth will have to deal with a threat looming over the United States. Russell Jackson, the White House Chief of Staff, reveals that her first act as president may be to shoot down the Air Force One.

Henry McCord (Tim Daly) will also meet his new Defense Intelligence Agency handler, Jane Fellows (Jill Hennessy). Henry and Jane will immediately clash with one another, especially after she asks him to recruit one of his Russian students for the NSA.

Despite the high-profile positions of both Elizabeth and Henry, they are still able to maintain a normal and healthy relationship at home. In the newly released season two footage, they are seen having breakfast with their two children, Alison and Jason. While they grill Jason about his grade in Civics, Alison announces that she was made peer monitor. The hilarious clip ends with Elizabeth asking whether or not she can sing, with Alison revealing, "Mom, you're tone deaf!"

It has also revealed that Madeleine Albright will make an appearance in the second episode of the season, "The Doability Doctrine." Elizabeth faces a tricky situation when she is tasked to negotiate the safe return of a State Department employee who was kidnapped in Afghanistan. She consults with and receives advice from the former Secretary of State. It seems that Elizabeth may also have to repair her relationship with President Dalton after she clashes with him and ignores his advice.

Executive producer, Eric Stoltz, will also be joining the cast as the brother of Elizabeth, Peter. Peter is described as adventurous and a life-long risk taker. Set to appear in November, he and Elizabeth will clash when he comes into town for a visit.

Season two of "Madam Secretary" debuts on Oct. 4, Sunday, at 8 p.m. ET on CBS.
