'Maze Runner 3' release date, news: Update on Dylan O'Brien's recovery

Many fans are still wondering about Dylan' O'Brien's appearance in the upcoming installment of "Maze Runner."

Previous news reported that O'Brien, the lead of the upcoming "Maze Runner: The Death Cure" film, was severely injured during the production for the film. There are varying reports about the incident which left him hospitalized for awhile, with some saying that he had been run over by a vehicle during filming. Reports stated that the actor fractured his cheekbone due to the accident.

The director of the film, Wes Ball, previously shared his sentiments about the accident. He said: "He is one tough cookie. I'm sorry for the grief this accident has caused his friends and family as well as my wonderful cast and crew."

Ball adds: "After a few weeks of rest and recovery he'll be back up and running to finish our adventure together. All the best."

Because of this, many are curious as to when O'Brien will return to start filming the show.

Meanwhile, recent reports reveiled that O'Brien's "Teen Wolf" cast mate JR Bourne shared some details about the actor's recovery.

He confirmed that O'Brien is recovering well. He explained: "He's doing great. I've tried to let him have his time, but I reached out through text just to let him know that he's in my thoughts. But as far as I know, he's doing well."

With that, reports indicated that the production for "Maze Runner: The Death Cure" will resume soon. It revealed that the crew is currently preparing for the continuation of the filming. The upcoming movie is expected to film in a different location than originally planned.

Directed by Ball, "Maze Runner: The Death Cure" is expected to be delayed. The initial release date for the movie was Feb. 17, 2017. However, it was announced by FOX that they are moving the film's release date to Jan. 12, 2018.
