Mortal Kombat X news: Johnny Cage and Kenshi are coming back
NetherRealm Studios has been keeping a tight wrap on details about one of this spring's most anticipated titles, Mortal Kombat X, though it has been gradually releasing small details about its game. Over the past few weeks, more and more leaks have suddenly begun to come up ahead of the launch of the new game which takes players 25 years ahead into the future. In Mortal Kombat X, the 2011 Mortal Kombat reboot will leave, and the classic as well as new characters will fight alongside the next-generation children of the older fighters.
Earlier, NetherRealm Studios had released a trailer for the story mode of Mortal Kombat X revealing a brand new generation of Kombat fighters. A recent update to the game's Amazon listing confirmed that Johnny Cage and Mileena will return to Mortal Kombat X as playable fighters, showing the first official images of the two characters as they will appear in the game. The listing also included character renders with a small description of their background and history.
Modeled after martial arts film actor John Claude Van Damme, the character Johnny Cage initially appeared in the very first Mortal Kombat game launched in 1992. His real name is John Carlton, who plays an arrogant and overconfident martial arts film actor to add a touch of humor to the game. Seemingly dead characters have been earlier resurrected in new games of Mortal Kombat in order to support their story line and so the return of Johnny Cage will be nothing too surprising.
NetherRealm Studio officially confirmed that Johnny Cage will make his return in the upcoming game, along with Kenshi, a blind swordsman who possesses psychokinetic powers and usually accompanies him. "You'll get to play as Johnny Cage, but we're also showing Cassie Cage who is the daughter of Sonya [Blade] and Johnny," said NetherRealm Studio's senior producer Adam Urbano to IGN. "You'll get a chance to see Kenshi and a chance to see a couple more."
NetherRealm Studios has announced a brand new Kombat Kast on its Twitch channel for Friday, March 13 at 4 p.m. EST. The Kombat Kast titled 'A Story 25-Years in the Making' will feature in-depth information from the company about the story mode of Mortal Kombat X, details about the fighters and other revelations during the MKX Twitch Livestream.
Mortal Kombat X will be launched on April 14 for Xbox One, Xbox 360, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, and PC, while a mobile version of the game is also being developed. With less than a month left before Mortal Kombat X hits the store shelves, more leaks and information about the game are sure to surface. So stay tuned for the latest news on Mortal Kombat X.
