Motorola, in exclusive partnership with Verizon, unveiled what could be the most powerful smartphone of 2014, the Droid Turbo.

"Amazing speed and performance. The sharpest display of any smartphone. Turbo charging for additional battery life when you need it most. You always have power to rise to the moment," the official Droid Turbo website states.

The Droid Turbo handset is equipped with high-end killer specs, including a 5.2-inch 1440p Quad HD screen with 2560 x 1440 resolution, 21 MP rear-facing camera, 2 MP front-facing camera, 565 pixels per inch, 32 GB internal storage (64 GB for Black Ballistic Nylon variant), 3 GB RAM, 2.7 GHz quad-core CPU and Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 chipset.

One of the most endearing features of the smartphone is the battery pack which can support up to 48 hours of usage and 675 hours on standby.

Droid Turbo runs Android 4.4.4 KitKat and is available in three colors: Metallic Black, Metallic Red and Black Ballistic Nylon.

Verizon Wireless provides consumers with three options for the Droid Turbo: a $199.99 deal with a two-year contract, translating to $24.99 per month for 24 months under the Verizon Edge program or full retail price of $599.99.

With high-end and sophisticated features, Droid Turbo is priced more reasonably versus iPhone 6 models and the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Note Edge, which carries a price tag of nearly $1K.

Various media outlets and tech pundits have had hands-on experience with the unit, and are unanimous in saying that it excels where it counts.

"Kudos to Motorola for focusing on packing as much functional excellence into this hardware as possible, however, even when that required sacrifices in terms of device bulk," Darrell Etherington of TechCrunch said.

Matthew Miller of ZDNet clearly loved the smartphone, and gave it a 9.5 rating out of the perfect score of 10.

According to Miller, "If I were a Verizon customer, the Droid Turbo would be my first pick. I prefer the Android platform and on Verizon it is tough to find anything better than this new smartphone. It is exactly what I want in a Moto X and I am even considering adding a Verizon account to pick one up."

Motorola also offers "Droid Turbo Screen Assurance" to consumers. This guarantee covers replacement once for free if the display is damaged.
