'NCIS' season 14 spoilers: Emily Wickersham talks show's new dynamic; are there too many team members?

Fans will have to get used to a larger team when Gibbs and his "NCIS" team return for season 14.
For the past 13 seasons, the "NCIS" team had always been composed of at most four members on the field, with Abby (Pauley Perrette), Ducky (David McCallum), and Palmer (Brian Dietzen) providing crucial support at the office. But Tony DiNozzo's (Michael Weatherly) departure has definitely shaken things up as three new members are now set to join Gibb's (Mark Harmon) team.
Whether it's because DiNozzo left such big shoes to fill or it's a sign of the changing times, the addition of three new members will make the squad room feel a little crowded.
Viewers have already been introduced to Clayton Reeves (Duane Henry) last season. The MI6 officer helped the team take down Trent Kort in the finale of season 13. While there's no news on how or why the British agent will be added to the team, he will reportedly be a regular presence from episode 5 onward.
"Blue Bloods" alum Jennifer Esposito is also on board as Special Agent Alexandra "Alex" Quinn. She will allegedly be shadowing the "NCIS" team at Gibbs' request after he rejected several agents who were jockeying for DiNozzo's position.
Emily Wickersham, who stars as Special Agent Eleanor Bishop, says she's happy to have another female on the set with her on a daily basis.
"To have another girl around every day is fantastic," Wickersham told TV Line. "The squad room dynamics are totally different. It's awesome."
It would be interesting to see how the team would work with two female agents on board. Ever since the first season, it had always been one female agent at a time. Caitlin Todd (Sasha Alexander) was on board for the first two seasons. Her demise paved the way for Ziva David (Cote de Pablo) to join the team. Agent Paula Cassidy (Jessica Steen) worked with Ziva and the others at one point, but her interaction with the former Mossad officer was hostile at first.
Another new agent, Nick Torres (Wilmer Valderrama), is set to be introduced in the first episode of the season. The "NCIS" team will be be looking for Torres when a car explosion was traced back to him. To further complicate things, the agent had been working undercover and was reported missing for six months.
The premiere episode of "NCIS" season 14 will air on CBS on Sept. 20 at 8 p.m.
