In the upcoming episode 9, titled "Heat Wave," of the fifth season of "New Girl," the loft where the gang lives is literally heating up, but apparently, Nick and Reagan are in a heated debate on the AC issue.

The official synopsis from The Futon Critic reads: "Things heat up between Nick and Reagan over who can provide the loft with the best air conditioning unit. Meanwhile, Winston uses his "cop voice" to help Schmidt prep Cece for a newscaster audition."

In the recently released promo trailer, viewers can see a sneak preview of Nick and Reagan's heated argument. Reagan tells Nick that the latter has a crush on her. But Nick thinks otherwise, he tells her that it's Reagan who has a crush on him.

Megan Fox, who guest stars as Reagan, has been a great addition to the series while lead star Zooey Deschanel is on maternity leave. "New Girl" creator Liz Meriwether shared in an interview with Vulture about Megan Fox's character.

Meriwether said: "There's something about her in this character that felt sort of new for her, and then there's something about this character on the show that felt good for us, this confident, tough-talking woman coming in to see through the guys' bulls**t."

On how Deschanel's absence changed the show, Meriwether said the feeling is almost the same when Jess was around; the only missing element was her point of view. Jess's absence, however, gives viewers the chance to know more about the other characters.

Meanwhile, here is the rundown of the previous episode, titled "The Decision." Nick and Winston had to make a decision—the decision on who among the two of them should sleep with Reagan. Reagan, on the other hand, puts pressure on them to decide right away. Schmidt and Cece searched for their wedding venue and bumped into college bully Benjamin and his fiancée Mimi.

"New Girl" season 5 airs every Tuesday at 8 p.m. on Fox.
