The Nexus 6 physically outweighs most other phablets including the Note 3 from Samsung. However, in terms of features, the Motorola-manufactured device for Google lags behind its competitor. Here is how they compare.

Design

There is very little metal on the Nexus 6 and it is only present on a band that runs along its edge. The rest of its body is made of plastic.

The Note 3, on the other hand, is fully made of plastic. Its back panel has soft-touch pleather and a stitch which makes it easy to hold and use.

A big difference between the two is that the Note 3 has an S Pen stylus, which allows for precision drawing and writing on its screen, an accessory which the Nexus 6 does not have.

Display

In terms of display, size and quality, the Nexus 6 has an advantage as it has an AMOLED screen measuring 5.96 inches with a resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels and a density of 493 pixels per inch. As for the Note 3, it has a super AMOLED screen measuring 5.7 inches with a resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels and a density of 386 pixels per inch.

Specs

The hardware on the Nexus 6 is better as it comes with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 chipset, a Krait 450 CPU with four cores clocked at 2.7 GHz and an Adreno 420 GPU. As for the Note 3, it has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 chipset, a Krait 400 CPU with four cores clocked at 2.3 GHz and an Adreno 330 GPU.

Memory

Here, the Nexus 6 is at a disadvantage as it does not have a memory slot and so external storage cannot be added. The version on the Note 3, however, allows for the addition of up to 64 GB. As for RAM, each device has 3 GB onboard.

Camera

The cameras on the Nexus 6 and the Note 3 are both 13 megapixel versions, but the Nexus 6's rear camera has optical image stabilization, which makes it able to produce better photos.

Price

The Nexus 6 is priced at $249 with a two-year contract while the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 normally costs $299.99 with a two-year contract. However, several carriers have dropped its contract price to $1 for a short period.
