Nexus 8 release date still up in the air, Google's hardware-software combo launch possible

The Nexus 8 public release date is still unclear, but rumors are claiming that it will be launched alongside Android 4.5 Lollipop during the Google I/O 2014 next week.

The event slated for June 25 to 26 is regarded as Google's perennial platform for introducing new products, services and ventures.

Nexus 8 is looking to closely rival iPad Mini, LG G Pad 8.3 and Galaxy Note, according to a PC Advisor UK report.

Rumor mills particularly pointed out sophisticated vision capabilities, running on 64-bit processor (same as iPhone 5s) and 3GB RAM that will be carried by this new tablet.

According to Wall Street Journal, Nexus 8 will be packed with features such as two back cameras, infrared sensors and cutting-edge software technology that can capture three-dimensional images.

A Chinese website, MyDriver released photos of alleged Nexus 8, and they are sternly claiming that these are all authentic.

The snaps show a tablet with larger icons and sleek design.

Curiosity of consumers and industry watchers were first tickled when the tech giant included an image of a bigger tablet (than Nexus 7) in an ad campaign for Android 4.4.3 KitKat.

Following the Android 4.4.3 KitKat update, speculations grow bigger as to what could be next for Android – Android 4.5 Lollipop or Android 5.0 Moonshine?

Setting aside the monickers, one thing is looking crystal clear now- Google is on a mission to bring significant improvements in its mobile operating system to enhance user tablet experience.

They are also putting a stop to the production of Nexus 7 once the new tablet comes out of its shell.

While Apple got a little vantage point with the success of WWDC 2014, but Google's got enough tricks on their sleeves just in time for the Google I/O 2014.

A hardware-software combo launch can easily set the stage on fire.
