"Of Kings and Prophets" bid farewell on air last week, March 15, after ABC cancels the Bible-based American drama, airing only two episodes.

According to Deadline, the reason why ABC pulled out the drama was because of its very low ratings. "Of Kings and Prophets" premiered with a dismal 0.8 Live same day rating in adults 18-49, even lower than the relative disappointing pilot of "Wicked City" with 0.9. "Of Kings and Prophets" then dropped almost -40 percent to a 0.5 18-49 in its second episode last week.

So, its timeslot will be replaced by "Shark Tank."

"Of Kings and Prophets" is based on the Books of Samuel and its story is about Saul and David and the Kings of Israel. It features the Kings' families, political rivals set in the Kingdom of Israel.

While the cancellation is bad news to the producers and cast, it is celebrated as a victory to the Parents Television Council (PTC).

PTC president Tim Winter said in a statement, "It appears that their primary objective was to be edgy and explicit, rather than to entertain with a biblical story. And in so doing, they're carving away a large percentage of their potential market. This further demonstrates a disconnect between what the entertainment industry wants to produce and what family audiences want to consume."

When this was launched, showrunner Chris Brancato said that the series will show the stories of the Old Testament, but it is one that is "violent and sex drenched."

The pilot episode, titled "Offerings of Blood," opened with King Saul. He arranged a marriage for his daughter Merav to Judah's son Mattiyahu, in order to defend the kingdom of Israelites. He hoped that through the marriage, it will unify the 12 tribes of Israelites. Meanwhile, David made a deal with Ahinoam to settle his family's debts and the penalty for not paying the taxes.
