There are several new smartphones boasting of great design which do not break the bank. One of these is the OnePlus 2. However, it will have to take on the Galaxy S6 Edge, which has captured the attention of many tech enthusiasts due to its stunning design. Here is how these two impressive devices compare.

Design

The OnePlus 2 falls into the phablet category, thus it is heavier and bigger than its competitor. It comes with a frame composed of an aluminum alloy and its back has a default plastic panel with a sandstone covering. However, those who prefer a different back panel can choose from other materials available such as black apricot, rosewood, bamboo and Kevlar. The device, which comes with a fingerprint sensor, only comes in black.

The S6 Edge has a metal frame and its front and back panels are crafted from polished Gorilla 4 Glass. Its unique design quality is its screen which has curved edges flowing over its right and left side. One of these edges can be customized to display five important contacts and colors associated with them, in addition to notifications from apps, alerts and a night clock.

Display

The display on the OnePlus 2 is bigger but it is not as sharp on the version on its competitor. The S6 Edge has a 5.1 super AMOLED screen with a resolution of1440 x 2560 pixels and density of 577 pixels per inch while the OnePlus 2 has an LTPS LCD screen measuring 5.5 inches with a resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels and density of 401 pixels per inch.

Specs

When it comes to hardware, both of these devices have the very best. The S6 Edge has the homegrown Exynos 7420 chipset, an octa-core CPU comprised of four Cortex-A53 and four Cortex-A57 cores and a Mali-T760MP8 GPU. As for the OnePlus 2, it has the Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 chipset, an octa-core CPU with four Cortex-A53 cores and four Cortex-A57 cores along with an Adreno 430 GPU.

Memory

There is no memory slot in this year's Galaxy S6 Edge and the same is true for the OnePlus 2, so no external storage can be added. As for RAM, the S6 Edge has 3 GB while the 16 GB model of the OnePlus 2 has 3 GB and its 64 GB model has 4 GB.

Price

The OnePlus 2 is priced at $329 in its unlocked form, while the Galaxy S6 Edge costs $299 with a two-year contract from a carrier.
