Production for season four of "Orange is the New Black" is currently in full swing and fans are excited to learn what will be next for the inmates of Litchfield Penitentiary. One thing that fans apparently want to see is a resolution to John and Daya's love story. As for the actress playing Daya, she's hoping that the character will continue to break out of her shell next season.

The love story between Corrections Officer John Bennett (Matt McGorry) and Dayanara Diaz (Dascha Polanco) is a fan favorite and the way it ended last season – with John running off and leaving Daya and their baby behind - has become a source of disappointment and discussion.

Fans have been wondering if a reconciliation between the two lovebirds is still possible. While Polanco says she would love to see that happening, the reality was that he was the one who walked out. Now Daya's main priority is "figuring out how she can take care of her child."

In season three of "Orange is the New Black," Daya initially wanted to give her child up for adoption but decided that she would keep her daughter. However, the baby's supposed caretaker – the boyfriend of Daya's mother – was arrested, which might mean that the baby will be left to child services.

How this will play out next season is still a mystery but as for Polanco, she wants to see her character to break out of her shell and speak up for herself.

In an interview with "Entertainment Weekly," Polanco said that if she was in Daya's situation, she would have been upset and "rebellious."

"I want to see her take the bull by the horns, grow up and stop worrying about her mother so much," the actress said.

But with the character in jail, the chances that Daya would be reunited with her child next season are very slim.

While her character in the popular TV drama tends to be quiet and timid, Polanco is outspoken and confident in real life. The actress has even parlayed her newfound fame to speak out on Latino issues and recently participated in a Latinos Breaking Barriers panel held during the "People en Español" festival.

Season four of "Orange Is the New Black" will reportedly be released on Netflix during the summer of 2016.
