Actor Matt McGorry sparked speculations of his return on "Orange Is the New Black" season 5 when he posted a picture with series regular Laverne Cox on Instagram.

McGorry's upload has a caption, "Introducing @lavernecox to the full La lifestyle experience #hiking." While the picture does not directly suggest they are filming together, fans of the show are aware that filming for the upcoming season is underway.

McGorry portrays Litchfield Penitentiary Correctional Officer John Bennett on "Orange Is the New Black" since the show began. He has a rather complicated relationship with one of the inmates, Daya Diaz, portrayed by actress Dascha Polanco.

He was last seen in season 3 after seemingly abandoning Daya and their then unborn child. His whereabouts remain unknown throughout season 4's run. Their story arc has so much more to explore and viewers have expressed excitement over his unconfirmed return.

Aside from their relationship, Daya plays a big role in the season 4's finale, a scene that season 5's premiere will pick up from. In the cliffhanger, Daya is being cheered by her fellow inmates as she points a gun at Corrections Officer Thomas Humphrey's forehead.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly prior to season 4, Polanco was asked if she wanted to see her character and John unite, and she said, "I would love to see that, but you have to be realistic. He walked out of her life and her main priority right now is figuring out how she can take care of her child."

While many of the viewers would love to see them reunite then, the eventful season 4 finished with the audience understanding why it did not happen. Could the upcoming season be the right time to give focus on their story?
