Following the tension-packed finale of "Peaky Blinders" season three, actor Cillian Murphy teased that the purported betrayal Tommy committed against his family will actually peel off layers of his future plans.

In a recent chat with Deadline, Murphy explained that whatever fans saw in the previous installment and what they will see in the upcoming episodes has already been established by creator Steven Knight.

"He's [Knight] obviously got it worked out. So, therefore, Tommy has got a plan. This whole thing is seemingly to betray his family and when that awful scene happens at the end, he knows what he needs to do," Murphy said.

Whatever Tommy is planning has yet to be revealed but fans can expect a whole lot of changes when the series returns next year.

Murphy's character, Tommy, is currently in a risky position as his family has started to doubt his loyalty to them. His betrayal, if it will ever be depicted, has yet to be officially confirmed, but Knight also shared some hints about the Shelby clan's future.

Knight first noted that in season four, he would like to "build him [Tommy] up again so that there's a bit more hope." While he seemed to imply that Tommy will see a few good days in the upcoming episodes, he teased that viewers should watch out for some big twists when a confrontation happens in the Shelby household again.

"I know what I'm going to confront them with, but who knows how they're going to behave and who's going to betray who," Knight said.

Based on Knight's remarks, it could be safe to assume that an unexpected twist will be seen in the new installment. It is possible that Tommy won't turn out to be a traitor but it is also possible that he will betray his family for the mentioned "plan."

Knight's crime show has been renewed for two more seasons so fans shouldn't worry for now, especially since Knight is currently hard at work to produce the scripts before production begins.

Netflix's "Peaky Blinders" series four is expected to premiere sometime in 2017.
