A new image has been leaked from the second season of Penny Dreadful and it shows Josh Hartnett and Eva Green's characters snuggling in the woods.

The literary monster-heavy TV series, Penny Dreadful, will be back for a second season on 2015 in Showtime, and fans finally got a preview of how Ethan and Vanessa will be in season 2.

More importantly, details about Dr. Frankenstein's Proteus have been revealed, with the creator saying that the pilot episode set the standard for how twisted Penny Dreadful aims to deliver its versions of the monsters.

"We've all seen the birth of Frankenstein's creature a million times," said John Logan, creator of the series, in an exclusive behind-the-scenes interview.

"And so we were faced with a challenge very early on which was how do we want to bring this creature to life," added Logan who looked back at the said episode.

The gory scene that will show how Proteus was given birth was taken in one shot, giving a simple yet striking image that will surely leave a mark on its viewers. In the scene, Dr. Victor Frankenstein (Harry Treadaway) was not able to notice that his Proteus was alive until he turned and saw the body missing.

"There are no special effects. You are seeing everything exactly as it happened. You are experiencing it in real time with Dr. Frankenstein."

Meanwhile, the photo of Vanessa and Ethan indicates that a rekindled romance could be waiting for fans in season 2.
