PlayStation 4.5 NEO release date: Sony to announce during Paris Games Week?

(Sony PlayStation)The PlayStation 4.5 NEO is rumored to arrive this September to refresh the PlayStation 4 (pictured).

Sony's still unconfirmed, but much talked about PlayStation 4.5 NEO will reportedly arrive by September, if recent reports are to be believed. In line with this particular release date, Sony may choose to introduce the upgraded PlayStation console during Paris Games Week in October.

This particular release window was alluded to by French video game distributor Innelec Multimedia in a recent press release. The company revealed that the PlayStation 4.5 NEO would arrive during the first half of their current financial year. The middle of their financial year, set from April 2016 to March 2017, would be sometime in September.

However, the company soon removed the particular press release hosted on its website. It also released a statement to AFJV disavowing any knowledge regarding the PlayStation 4.5 NEO. While it's possible that the company may have made a mistake, many gaming enthusiasts believe that they are just decided to err at the side of caution.

When the PlayStation 4.5 NEO does arrive, it is expected to come with support for 4K gaming. It is also rumored to have an upgraded CPU, GPU, and RAM. Aside from upgraded hardware, the PlayStation 4.5 NEO isn't expected to be vastly different from the older PlayStation 4. It will have the same user interface and use the same in-game store. This is so that Sony does not alienate the PlayStation 4 users.

With the arrival of the PlayStation 4.5 NEO, future game titles will reportedly come with two game modes — a "Base Mode" for the PlayStation 4 and a "NEO Mode" for the PlayStation 4.5. Games that run the NEO Mode will be able to utilize the console's upgraded hardware. Supposedly, frame rates will be more stable and visuals will have a higher screen resolution.

Sony has not released any official statements regarding the PlayStation 4.5 NEO. As such, readers are advised to take these news with a grain of salt.
