PlayStation VR release date, specs: headset requires 60-square-feet of space

(PlayStation Asia)Sony PlayStation VR comes out in Oct. 13.

Aside from the Oculus Rift VR, a lot of gamers are also looking forward to try Sony's PlayStation VR. However, the recently released VR guide states that gamers will have to spare at least 60-square-feet of space to use the headset.

Sony finally released more gaming details and guide for its VR headset. However, some were surprised to learn that they will have to free up around 60-square-feet of space. The specific play area that the guide states is 9.8 feet by 6.2 feet.

There is also a sales brochure for the device explaining the measurements of the Play Area. According to the brochure, "Clear an area larger than the Play Area of all obstacles before using PS VR and remain seated whenever possible. If the application requires you to stand while wearing the VR headset, follow the application instructions carefully, and maintain awareness of your surroundings."

As for the height, the guide states that it will depend on the height in which the camera is set up. Sony also recommends potential buyers to try the trial event in PlayStation VR stores before purchasing one so they could learn the distinction between viewing the 3D graphics and wearing the headset.

Sony also discourages users under 12 years old to use the headset in order to avoid complications. In order to use the VR headset, one must have a PlayStation 4 system and a PlayStation camera. Players apparently can get a better experience if the PlayStation Move motion controller, which is an optional accessory, is added to the overall setup.

In other news, racing game "Driveclub" will be getting a fresh look as it is going to be launched for the upcoming PlayStation VR. Former team member of "Driveclub" developer Evolution Studios confirmed on Twitter about the news.

The PlayStation VR headset comes out on Oct. 13 for $399.
