'Pokemon GO' updates: Did data miners find Ditto Easter Egg in new update?

(REUTERS/Ilya Naymushin)"Pokemon GO" is expected to see spawn and rare nests rotations again before the purported update arrives by the end of September

A lot of trainers in "Pokémon GO" are still waiting for the legendary creatures to appear so they could already complete their Pokedex. One rare Pokémon which has not been released as well is named Ditto, but data miners have been giving their best efforts in searching for any sign that the creature will soon arrive.

Data miners from Pokémon GO Hub started uncovering new details from the game's 0.37.1 Android application package (APK) in order to see if Ditto is already available in the latest update. When they tried to dig into the coding of the 0.37.1 APK version of the mobile app, they ended up not finding any signs of Ditto.

From a technical standpoint, they tried searching in the global-metadata.dat file of the APK. However, what they found instead were some mentions of "POKEMON_CLASS_LEGENDARY," "ITEM_EFFECT_CAP_CHANCE_LEGEND" and "ACTIVITY_CATCH_LEGEND_POKEMON." This indicates that other legendary Pokémon will be appearing aside from Ditto.

According to reports, the data miners may have been searching in the wrong place because Ditto might be located in the servers of Niantic Labs since Pokémon Easter Eggs come from there. However, if Ditto can be found in the server of the developers, this means that the Pokémon can only be acquired if it is spawned in a specific location or possibly evolved. It seems that players still have not caught the shapeshifting creature which indicates that it's possible Ditto still does not exist in "Pokémon GO."

There are speculations why the Pokémon is still not present in the mobile app. This is probably due to the move set of the Pokémon since it has the Transform ability. This move makes Ditto transform into another Pokémon, so the developers could be struggling to incorporate this into Pokémon Gym battles. Another problem is that Transform may also cause some balancing issues within the game, but the move may possibly work better if there were already player versus player (PvP) battles.

As of now, trainers still need to wait for further updates regarding Ditto's appearance in "Pokémon GO."
