"Pokémon Sun" and "Pokémon Moon" have been released recently, and they've already been gaining great reception. In the games and also in the previous entries, a shiny Pokémon is one of the most coveted creatures to acquire. In the latest installment, there is a way for players to get their own shiny starter Pokémon.

A lot of trainers want to have a shiny Pokémon since their color design is different and they are very difficult to find. These creatures can be encountered while traveling around the region of Alola. However, some players want to acquire a shiny starter Pokémon, which can only be obtained in the beginning of the game. There is a way for this to happen but it will take a long time and the chances of getting a shiny starter are 1 out of 4,096.

There is no easy path to do this but by soft-resetting the game. This can be done by pressing the L and R button together at the same time, as well as the Start or Select button. This can take a lot of time and players must be really patient.

Based on a Kotaku report, there was even one case when a player tried to capture a Shiny Mewtwo and it took him five years to finally obtain the creature.

It was also mentioned in reports  that the player must save the game after the encounter with one of the guardian deity Pokémon, Tapu Koko. After that, the trainer must go to Lillie, Professor Kukui's assistant, and a long cutscene will be activated where it will lead to the gamer choosing his/her starter Pokémon. During the scene, it will not show if the creature is a shiny one or not. It can only be found out when the trainer starts choosing a name for the starter.

If the Pokémon has the usual color design, it would be the right time to execute the soft reset where the gamer would go through the cutscene again.  It will also depend on the luck of the player if the shiny starter Pokémon will appear immediately or not.

"Pokémon Sun" and "Pokémon Moon" have already been released in North America on Nov. 18 for the Nintendo 3DS.
