'Prison Break' reboot news: Miller and Purcell thrilled to reprise roles as Michael Scofield and Lincoln Burrows in reboot

Fans were hit with a bit of nostalgia after seeing the tandem of Wentworth Miller and Dominic Purcell tear the streets up again on The CW's "The Flash." Miller and Purcell are known for their role as Michael Scofield and Lincoln Burrows on Fox's fan-favorite drama series "Prison Break" which ran for four seasons from 2005–2009. Six years later, a source has confirmed to E! News, that Fox is now working on a "Prison Break" reboot.

It was reportedly Miller's idea to bring back the series to the small screen, and the Fox management seemed to like it. "We actually floated the idea to Fox very casually and they seemed very not casual about this interest," Miller told E! News. "They seemed to think there was something there."

According to an article by Christian Today, the "Prison Break" reboot would be closed-ended and conclude with the series, similar to the format of last year's "24: Live Another Day" which saw the return of Kiefer Sutherland's as Jack Bauer in one more mission in London. The show's revival also follows a line of other classic shows getting rebooted including The X-Files, Twin Peaks and Heroes Reborn.

"To go back and do something like we did at the end of season four, where there were those two standalone episodes were Sarah was in trouble; it was like a hidden chapter, we didn't know this, but we're going to share this with you, wouldn't it be cool to go back and layer one of those things in. Like another standalone chapter, this is what you didn't see before," Miller added.

The first season of "Prison Break" followed Michael Scofield, a brilliant structural engineer, who broke his brother out of prison after he was wrongly convicted of murder and sentenced to death. The subsequent seasons featured their life on the run, another jailbreak in a different country, an infiltration and finally one last jailbreak as a hidden chapter.

Fox has yet to comment on the reports as of this time. But fans expect that more details will be announced soon.
