'Resident Evil 7' and 'Resident Evil 2 Remake' game release date later this year

(Facebook/Resident Evil)Will Capcom release two "Resident Evil" games this year?

While saying Capcom is developing "Resident Evil 7" and "Resident Evil 2 Remake" at the same time is old news, the latest rumor has it that the two fan-favorite games are getting unveiled at the upcoming Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) happening from June 14 to 16 this year and will have the release dates close to each other later this year.

However, there are some who don't believe that the two games will, indeed, be released at around the same period later this year. NSEA Voice opines that while the idea may sound exciting for the fans, it will not be a wise business decision on the part of Capcom.

According to the blog site, though, there is a great possibility for "Resident Evil 7" and "Resident Evil 2 Remake" to be unveiled at next week's E3, but it doubts if the two games will be released just weeks apart. As the fans have been clamoring for more horror in "Resident Evil" games, the blog site believes that fans will get hold of "Resident Evil 2 Remake" first later this year, and those looking forward to "Resident Evil 7" may need to wait until next year for it to be released.

It can be recalled that "Resident Evil 6" did not really sit well with many gamers. According to GameSpot, the game only scored an average of 4.5/10 rating when the website felt the pulse of its readers regarding the game. The gaming website also noted that the game was met with various and conflicting reviews and had an underwhelming sales performance.

GameSpot also mentioned that many of its readers remarked that the "Resident Evil" series was already losing its original horror essence as many games in the series focused more on the actions in the game. When "Resident Evil" producer Masachika Kawata was asked by GameSpot last year to comment on this observation of the fans, he answered:

"Since there's been more spinoff titles, I can see how it can be perceived in such a way. And of course I believe that we should produce titles that bring out the horror. I'm thinking about it and also preparing for it."

Incidentally, the "Resident Evil" series celebrates its 20th anniversary this year. In line with this, fans can expect a full-scale offensive from the studio to celebrate this feat.
