The first episode for "Ricky and Morty" season 3 has started recording and avid viewers of the show can't wait for the announcement of its television premiere.

The coming of season 3 has long been announced. In fact, the second season had only aired three episodes when it was confirmed. Also, the last scene of season 2's after credit showed the Smiths' most dependable friend, Mr. Poopy Butthole, hinting at the next season's target release. He was shown talking to the pizza delivery guy and asking what he thinks will happen to the Smith family and if he thinks Rick's family would get him out of jail. The pizza guy drops him on the floor where he said, "Tune in to 'Rick and Morty' season 3 in like a year and a half… or longer," he added, "to see how we unravel this mess."

That episode was aired on Oct. 4 which makes April 2017 a possible premiere month. The show's many fans, of course, would be very happy if it premieres sooner than that and rumors have it that it might just be the case.

On Feb. 17, the show's official Twitter account uploaded a gif of Mr. Poopy Butthole announcing the year and a half anticipation for season 3. Speculations were further fuelled on Feb. 18 when the show's writer, Mike McMahan, posted a picture of episode 301's script on Twitter, and captioned it with "Hey @RickandMorty am I allowed to say we're recording episode 301 today?" The tweet has garnered over 1.4k likes and 1k retweets to date.

In an interview with Den of Geek, "Rick and Morty" co-creators Dan Harmon and Justin Roiland expressed their happiness towards the show's success. Harmon also revealed that the Smith family is going somewhere. He said, "It's time to demand that the network allow us to draw the characters going to Hawaii."
