Sacramento Kings trade rumors 2016: Clippers, Magic good fit for Rudy Gay?

Many teams are being linked to Sacramento Kings veteran forward Rudy Gay, but perhaps only a few of them make sense as great landing spots. Among them could be the Los Angeles Clippers and Orlando Magic.

In a report by Sportsblog, it was opined that Lob City and Orlando are ideal destinations for Gay.

With the Clippers, it was suggested that guard Jamal Crawford would be sacrificed. This is almost impossible though, considering his contributions and feats in the past few years.

However, Gay has better numbers this season especially on offense. If the Clippers are seeking for that bench production boost, they might send Crawford to the Kings.

It is uncertain though if Gay joins the second unit if he heads to Los Angeles. For the majority of his career, the starting job belonged to him and this is likely to continue with the Clippers. No matter what his potential role, the 30-year-old will be a terrific addition to Lob City's squad.

The Magic, on the other hand, could be giving up backcourt players C.J. Watson and Jodie Meeks plus future selections to get Gay from Sacramento.

This might work for the Kings since they need a solid backup playmaker and the picks are valuable assets.

If Gay ends up playing for the Magic, what he can bring to the table is leadership and experience. There are a number of young talents in Orlando who he can mentor for them to improve and soon be cornerstones of the franchise.

As of the moment, Gay's future remains undetermined but there is a good chance the Kings will aim to keep him after the 2016-17 NBA season, and it is mainly due to the way he is playing now at such a high-level. Together with DeMarcus Cousins, they are leading the team from Sactown.
