(Samsung/Motorola)Samsung Galaxy A8 vs Motorola DROID Turbo

Samsung has a huge range of mid-range smartphones in its lineup, one of which is the Galaxy A8. However, there are also other devices available like the DROID Turbo from Motorola, prepared to take over the market. Here is how these two very different devices compare.

Design

The Galaxy A8, surprisingly, comes with a full metal body which has never before found its way to Samsung's previous flagship devices. The phone, with its premium look, is very thin and has a fingerprint sensor. It also quite looks very much like the iPhone 6 due to the same rounded edges. It comes three colors white, black and gold.

As for the DROID Turbo, metal is used for its frame, while the rest of the device is made of plastic. The phone has sharp edges and capacitive keys on the front. Unlike the Galaxy A8, it does not have a fingerprint scanner. Its back panels are either made of ballistic nylon or Kevlar and the device comes in three colors, black, red and blue.

Display

The device from Samsung is much bigger and has a 5.7 inch super AMOLED screen with a resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels and a density of 386 pixels per inch. As for the DROID Turbo, it has a sharper 5.2 inch super AMOLED screen with a resolution of1440 x 2560 pixels and a density of 565 pixels per inch.

Specs

In terms of hardware, the Galaxy A8 has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 chipset, along with an octa-core CPU comprised of four Cortex-A53 cores clocked at 1.5 GHz and four Cortex-A53 cores clocked at 1.0 GHz and an Adreno 405 GPU. As for the DROID Turbo, it has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 chipset, a Krait 450 CPU with four cores clocked at 2.7 GHz and an Adreno 420 GPU.

Memory

There is no memory card slot on the DROID Turbo, so external storage cannot be added. The Galaxy A8, on the other hand, has the SIM 2 slot which can be used to add up to 128 GB of storage. The Galaxy A8 has 2 GB of RAM while the DROID Turbo has 3 GB.

Price

Since the Samsung Galaxy A8 is a mid-range device, it only costs $510, unlocked. The Motorola DROID Turbo, however, costs around $99 with a two-year contract.
