Samsung Galaxy Grand Prime Value Edition delivers unimpressive performance in leaked benchmark results
Samsung is reportedly developing another variant of the Galaxy Grand Prime, dubbed the Galaxy Grand Prime Value Edition, and a German website had recently revealed the specifications as well as European prices of the upcoming smartphone. The Samsung Galaxy Grand Prime Value Edition has now surfaced in Geekbench database, along with both specs and benchmark results, showing the device's listed specifications to be a bit different from those speculated earlier.

The Galaxy Grand Prime Value Edition, bearing model number SM-G531F, has reportedly received certification in Taiwan, but is yet to be made official. The 'lite' variant of the mid-range Galaxy Grand Prime Value Edition is expected to be similar to its predecessor, the Galaxy Grand Prime, featuring a 5-inch qHD (540x960 pixels) display.
However, according to the details provided by the German website, the Value Edition model will reportedly be powered by a different processor, a 64-bit quad-core Cortex-A53 Marvell PXA1908 chipset, as against the Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 SoC inside the Galaxy Grand Prime. However, the leaked benchmark results of the Samsung Galaxy Grand Prime Value Edition, carrying model number SM-G531H, show the device is powered by a Spreadtrum SC8830 processor, paired with a 1.3GHz quad-core Cortex-A7 chipset with a Mali-400MP2 graphics processing unit (GPU) and 1GB of RAM. The benchmark results also confirm that Samsung's upcoming smartphone will offer 1GB of RAM, 8GB of internal storage, along with a microSD card slot for expansion.
Meanwhile, based on the user-submitted benchmark for the Value Edition, GSMArena tested them with the Galaxy Grand Prime, which scored 1469 points in GeekBench 3, while the Galaxy Grand Prime Value Edition achieved only 1054 points. This means that the performance of Samsung's upcoming smartphone will be not as powerful as its predecessor, but it could also be available at a lower price.
Among other specs, the Galaxy Grand Prime Value Edition will sport an 8-megapixel rear camera for photos and videos, a 5-megapixel front camera, and a 2,600 mAh battery on board. The Galaxy Grand Prime Value Edition is likely to ship with Android 5.0 Lollipop operating system out of the box, as against Android 4.4 KitKat out-of-the-box in its predecessor.
