Samsung Galaxy S5 vs iPhone 6: Top devices compete on size, specs and camera

Samsung is betting on the Galaxy Note 4 to take on the bigger iPhone 6 Plus, but at the moment it is only the flagship Samsung Galaxy S5 vs iPhone 6 that the South Korean tech giant can rely on.

Camera specs-wise, the iPhone 6 comes with the same 8 MP rear-facing camera as iPhone 5S, which is lower vs the Samsung Galaxy S5's 16 MP camera. However, the latest iPhone captured sharper images in low light compared to Samsung's flagship.

Samsung Galaxy S5 sports a 5.1-inch 1080 x 1920 display with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection while iPhone 6 is a bit smaller size at 4.7-inch with 1334 x 750 resolution but with shatter-proof and oleophobic coating.

Both smartphones have fingerprint scanning technology, but the Cupertino-based Apple, Inc., has introduced Apple Pay which is certified by Visa, MasterCard and AMEX. Samsung Galaxy S5's fingerprint ID technology is currently only certified by PayPal.

While it may look somewhat even at this stage, the iPhone 6 jabs Galaxy S5 in the internal memory capacity side.

The former comes in 16 GB, 64 GB and 128 GB with 1 GB RAM internal memory, while the latter stretches just until 32 GB.

For today's mobile app addicted world, Apple has obviously included more storage space to accommodate more applications and personal file storage.

Samsung Galaxy S5 is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 chipset, while Apple has developed its own with A8, the fastest processor so far to emerege from the company's R&D labs.

Appearance-wise, Apple wins in sophistication with its sleekness and design.

Meanwhile, Samsung has made it a habit to troll Apple in their advertisements.

However, with the incredible reception by consumers of the iPhone 6, as was evident with 4 million pre-orders within 24 hours after launch, the South Korean company has to do more than just taunting Tim Cook's organization in television commercials to keep up with the competition.

Their latest bet is currently on the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 scheduled for release on Oct. 17.
