Samsung Galaxy Tab S3 release date, features: No-show at the IFA 2016; rumored to launch in mid-2017

A lot of gadget enthusiasts were expecting for Samsung to unveil its Galaxy Tab S3 at the recent international electronic trade show, IFA 2016, at Berlin, Germany. However, the upcoming tablet was a no-show.

According to reports, the Korean tech giant may release the much-awaited tablet later than expected since it may add more features such as a 4K resolution display.

Rumor has it that Samsung will be offering the Galaxy Tab S3 in two screen size options — an 8-inch and a 9.7-inch variant. It is expected to have an AMOLED screen with 2048 x 1536 pixel resolution

Under the hood, users can expect the handheld device to be powered by an octa-core Exynos 8890 processing chip, similar to that in the recently released smartphone flagships Galaxy Note 7 and the S7 series. The chipset will be matched with a 4 GB of RAM and two base storage variants — 32 GB and 64 GB. The tablet may also run on the latest operating system, Android 7.0 Nougat, fresh from the box.

Apart from the processing specs, the Galaxy Tab S3 may be equipped with an 8-megapixel rear camera and 2-megapixel front camera. It is also expected to feature the trendiest USB Type-C port that will act as both data transfer and charging port. Speaking of charging, the device will have a 4,000 mAh. As for its price, the upcoming tablet may have a starting price tag of $420.

The speculations on the Samsung Galaxy Tab S3's specifications have been circulating for quite some time now. However, most users want to know when the tech giant will be launching the said device.

According to reports, the Korean company may unveil the tablet in the middle of 2017. There are also rumors that Samsung has already applied for an FCC certification, which could mean that the release is very near.
